August-December 2017

My goal is going to complete the blog updates from the last million years and attempt to stay in real time from now on.  Blogging is something I really like, but it is so hard to maintain that on a regular basis!  I don't mean to neglect it, but it isn't something I can just sit and do unless I plan a time to do it.

So thankful for this man and his health.
Open heart surgery in August and he was up and moving soon after.
My best friend lost her dad in October to the same kind of heart issue that Dad had.
Every now and again I catch myself thinking about Dad and Roy and how thankful I am.

I started coaching my girl last May and we had competitions through December of 2017.
It was a long season and it was hard, but we had fun!
I think she's ready to do it again and I am gearing up to coach again!

Hayes plays soccer and Libby does cheer.
The girls color on the sidelines while we watch soccer.
It is lovely.

Last season our soccer team was terrible.
As in, we never won a game.
This season was awesome and we went undefeated!

Cheer comp season was similar to LAST soccer season.
We didn't win one single competition during regular season!
We still had a GREAT time!

In October 2017 we put our house on the market and got full asking price in 10 DAYS!

Fall Festival at Winston is always a good time!

The Boys

For the 50th day of school the boys all dressed alike.
I guess all of the parents plan the same...
I am not sure when my kid became a gangster, but here he is... in all his glory with his friends.
I just love them and the fun they have.
I hope that he maintains the same level of confidence forever.

My new mom BFF

When I realized Hayes was starting kindergarten (much to my personal mom dismay) I began to pray for his peers.  I began to pray for their parents and asked God to bless me with a friend to share worry and joy with.  I began to ask God to send Hayes good friends with good homes and good parents.  I could not have ASKED God for a better set of FRIENDS for Hayes.  I could not have asked God for a better friend for myself either!  Hayes was blessed with two wonderful besties in kindergarten;  Lexi and Rex.  Their families are fantastic and the social life the three of them have at school is equally awesome!

I have enjoyed everything about getting to know Rex's mom and I really enjoyed spending time with her!  We have spent a few nights, days, weekends chatting and letting our boys play!  The connection with another mom has been great.  To share worry and doubt and success with each day and week has been wonderful!  I am SO grateful for the time we have had together and I have begun praying that Hayes will be able to share the next few years of school with the same wonderful peers!

Thanksgiving

The baby boy started kindergarten this year.  His handwriting wasn't awesome and he didn't know near as many words as he was supposed to, but off he went.  He did a fantastic job and I'm so grateful for his teachers.  They spend hours with him and all his friends daily and they are precious to us.  These ladies are amazing and I so enjoy them!  Mrs. Watkins is a buffalo hunter and they live near her house!  Can y'all believe that!?

Hayesface goes to Kindergarten

I only cried a little bit.

I only cried a little bit about 5 times during the day.

He was anxious and excited for his first day of Kindergarten.  He couldn't get out of his carseat fast enough.  He was SO excited to be a Winston Wildcat and be a part of a BIG school.  He is the best example of an eager learner and the best 'first day of school' kid ever.  He jumped out of the van and I had to remind him not to run across the parking lot.  He was thrilled to walk into the building and embrace his new journey.
Thumbs up in the car before we left the house.
Me:  Hayes, what is your bus number?
Hayes:  315.

Being the good seatbelt mom, I fixed his strap after the photo.  I'm aware that it was not correct and not safe for travel.  Thanks for your concern about my kiddo... but I promise, I worry more about him than you do.  Ever.

Me:  Hayes, what is your bus number?
Hayes:  315.

5 minutes later...

Me:  Hayes, what is your bus number?
Hayes:  315.

10 minutes later...

Me:  Hayes, what is your bus number?
Hayes:  Mommy, we have talked about this 3 times already.  Don't ask me again.
Me:  Okay, well... what is your bus number just in case I forget?
Hayes:  Mommy.  315.

So... we were on time for school and I was THRILLED at that.  Time management:  not my strongest suit.  Working on that.  I made him go back up there in the evening after dinner and take photos with this sign.  I wanted to document it and make sure we had no rush and no photo bombers.  Also, I didn't cry any after school.

Hayes managed to drink his drink, eat apples, and socialize at lunch.  He inhaled his snack after school.  I packed a sandwich, chips, and apples for lunch.  Kid is going to have to eat more than that!  Right?!

I think I'll take a photo with the school sign each year so we can document start to finish!

All smiles.  Day 1, done.  179 to go!
