It's a rental

Leigh Leigh comes to visit a lot since she moved to NC.
We love having her visit.
It is a lot of fun, she brings cool rental cars, and she makes us laugh.
Occasionally, we have car parties in the driveway!

NC 4

Special requests fulfilled this week.  Wrapping up our summer trip to NC this week...
I'm only about 6 months behind with my blogging....

No big deal.
Here are the highlights from our beach trip this summer...

Libby and Hayes are fearless-ish of the ocean.
It was fun.
Spencer has not a care in the world except bolting STRAIGHT to the ocean.
Also, a problem...

Copious amounts of sunscreen needed for the day.
Packing up our lives to go an hour to the beach is NOT a huge feat!

NC 1

In honor of Buddy and LeLe coming to visit us this weekend, I thought I would FINALLY get around to writing about our journey to North Carolina back in June.

Oops.

In June we spent a ridiculous amount of time in the car and drove to see my sister and brother in law.  We loaded up everything but the kitchen sink and traveled to the tiny town of New Bern NC for a few days.  On the way up there we stopped at CFA in some random spot in SC or NC and had dinner.  Our first stop was Charlotte and a visit with some dear friends who we used to babysit when they were MY kids' ages!

My girls.
Morgan--who was barely a year old when we first met her.
So sad and so happy she's all grown up!
Our dear friend Brandon had QUITE a time with Spencer.  She is so friendly and he was happy to help entertain while she played!  He made us an awesome breakfast of s'mores french toast, bacon, eggs, coffee, etc.  It was FABULOUS!  Charlotte was our halfway point and we spent the night with the Hess crew before we made the rest of the journey to New Bern.

Clearly Elizabeth enjoyed herself...

Take 2... Take 57.... #willshouldnotbeinchargeofthecameraever

I was blessed with two baby sisters.
God saw fit to give me a few more soliders in my sibling army, but these girls are the originals.
Bless them.
They have been my little sisters for 30 and 26 years.
I wouldn't want to do life along with ANYONE else.
Both of them happened to marry really fantastic guys.
Occasionally we get to enjoy time together!
This dinner was a FIRST for all of us and it was awesome!
I so enjoy spending time with the guys and the girls too!
The conversation was interesting and the laughter never stopped.
After dinner we ventured off to dessert....
And we asked Sir William Pitts to come take our photo.
There were about 90 pictures that looked like this one below... before we got to the ONE shot that looked acceptable.

Just one shot.

most of them look like this...

Man, I love these people.

Weddings

Y'all.
I love weddings.
I also love that I live in Georgia and can say that 'Y'all' is a complete sentence.
Because, it is.
I so enjoy spending time with people at weddings.
I like dressing up and dancing.
I like that people are mostly happy at weddings.
The smiles and tears shared are always full of joy.
I seriously had a blast at this wedding.
We enjoyed spending time with Flat Leigh Anne and Flat Buddy.
The bride and groom are awesome people and I love them both dearly.
Not to mention, they look fabulous together and I seriously love them both.

Probably the best night of the summer.
Hands down.

The baby sisters

As far as I'm concerned these two are my babies.
One of them was my first baby.  I was seven when she was born and I loved taking care of her.
With the exception of nursing her, I'm pretty sure I did everything else to take care of her.  Granted, my parents were rockstars and took great care of her, I helped.  She was my best friend during childhood and I know that our relationship as adults reflects how much I loved her as a child.  And boy, do I love her.  When people ask me if I have friends I typically reply with, 'No, I have sisters.'  They are my best friends.  They are the people I complain the most TO and the most ABOUT.  I wouldn't trade them for anything else in the whole world.  After my husband and my actual little people, they are my favorite humans.

So here are some shots of my favorite babies.
My baby sister.
And my baby girl.

Miss you Leigh Leigh.

My girls.

I pray for their relationship every day.
I pray that they will grow up and be best friends.
I know that there will be lots of fights.
Lots of shared clothing and stolen clothing.
Lots of attention that isn't shared on purpose, but attention that someone robs from someone else.
I worry that maybe I won't believe the child who's telling the actual truth.
I worry that the girls will do more damage to each other than I can prevent or...

I worry.  Clearly, I worry a lot.
The girls seem just fine.
The lipstick queen and the happy go lucky baby.
I pray they will be friends.
I pray each and every day that they will be like us.
My sisters.
My best friends.
The people I call or text or chat with more than anyone else.
I don't really have friends.
I have sisters.
They can't quit me.
And I can't quit them.

Sisters

In August of 2013 we found out we were pregnant with #3.  I remember distinctly being thrilled and scared all at the same time.  We decided to share our news with our family at Libby's 2nd birthday party.  We got the kids t-shirts made and waited for everyone to notice.  Leigh Anne was the first to notice and she ran out to confirm that what she read on Lib's shirt was indeed true.  It was.
So I began to think about who that child would be.  Would it be a boy?  I wanted the last one to be a boy so bad.  I just wanted one little girl... and she was a handful, trust me.  She's enough little girl for all of the world.  Seriously.  I love her, but man, she's exhausting.  Well, fastforwrd 16 weeks and we found out it was another little girl.  Daryk and I were just glad to find out what 'IT' was... and 'IT' was a SHE!
More PINK, more hairbows, more glitter, more sass!  Can we handle that?  Are we ready for a repeat of Libby J?  Yikes!  The more I thought about it, the more I wanted that little girl.  I mean, what is better than sisters?  After all, I have two of my own and I love them with every fiber of my being.  I cannot imagine this world without them.  They are often the first and last people I communicate with on a daily basis.
They GET me.  They get the strange things that make me, ME.  They are often the first people to point out things I neglect, things I didn't want to be reminded of, and things I need to work on.  They are the two women who help to raise my babies and love on them like an extra momma.  My sisters are irreplaceable.  They are amazing and I cannot imagine my life without them.  I am beyond thankful that my girls have each other.  They will be there to walk in front of each other at their weddings.  They will stand beside each other on those days as well.  They will share things and fix hair and steal clothes and all of those girly things.  Sisters are girlfriends and best friends and enemies all at the same time.

My sisters are my favorite people and I'm hoping that my girls will grow up with the same love.
